Bust A Nut -
The Flight of the Harbinger
NES Game

Scratch programmed NES game by Mario’s Right Nut.

Game Description

This game was a little more involved than my pervious attempts.  It had various bad guys that would changed based on the level.  At the end of which, you’d fly into a Stargate and be transported to the next stage.

The game used seed values to build levels and wrote/read from the background to keep track of what was what with the enemies.  Your ship could be upgraded and featured shields.  Pretty fun way to waste some time.  It featured customizable game play and a password system.

The game used dual controllers when played on hardware.  You’d use one d-pad to control the ship’s direction and the other to control your guns.  It was awesome.

This game received 1 release, the First Edition.  There were 10 “LEs” made, but I believe they were part of the First Edition.  I made 50 physical carts from donors.  The LEs came with wooden boxes and some perler bead art, I think.

Demo Videos

Here are some demo videos I did for this back in the day and the release video.  It demonstrates game play and the awesome music!  Nauty language.

Construction Info:

Here’s a little something I’m slappin’ together. I think it’s pretty cool. Keep in mind that you need 2-D-Pads to work it. P1 stears the ship and P2 fires. It obviously needs a bunch of work, but I thought I’d share.

I’m love to hear comments/suggestions.

9/26/11 – Another Construction Pic and Product Whoring

I took this with my phone, so it’s a little crappy. But you get the point.

9/28/11 – So, I finished it last night. I still have to put all the shiznat in the cases, but I got all the labels applied and everything. Looks pretty bad ass (and the case even closes). On sale soon!
