Betrayal
Lego Mosaic

Here’s some info on my mosaic of Mario vs. Yoshi…the Betrayal from SNES.

I’m a Nintendo geek, as I’m sure you’ve gathered from this site! I remember playing SNES as a kid and thinking that it was pretty shitty that Mario just ditched Yoshi when he needed to jump to various pillers. Well, apparently I’m not alone because someone made this!

Doesn’t it just scream Lego mosaic?? I mean, look at Yoshi’s face? How sad!

Pixelized Image

Here’s the image after I scaled it and pixelized it. It’s a little akward because it’s difficult to get things to receed into the background when you’re working with Lego. But I think we pulled it off. Yoshi just looks so sad!!

Importing into MLCad

Here’s the final image in MLCad. Well, almost final. I think that (similar to the Star Trek: The Experience mosaic) I used 2×2 rather than 2×4 for the white bricks due to the costs.

Unfortunately, as of writing this, Yoshi is sitting on top of a shelf. We plan to move in the near future and I’m trying to stop making tons of holes in the wall. But, someday, he’ll finally take his place in the mosaic library!!

I built this pattern in December of 2008 and the actual model was built in August of 2017. I had the bricks for YEARS before finally getting around to it. Not sure why, but it’s done now! This model consists of 3,615 pieces or 12,288 bricks. It is 2′-6″ (76.2 cm) wide by 3′-4″ (101.6 cm) tall.

Final Product

I think that this turned out amazing. I’m extremely happy with it and really bummed that I can’t hang it up yet. Oh well. Someday. But, in the mean time, here’s a YouTube review of the thing for your enjoyment!
