Yuna #1
Lego Mosaic

Here’s some detail on my GIANT Lego mosaic of Yuna from Final Fantasy. Hopefully I’ll get to build her someday!

Starting Image

If you search around on the interwebs, you’ll find plenty of pictures of Yuna from Final Fantasy. I have 2 that are my favorites. This is the first. Yuna has a special place due to various things from college, mostly. She was featured in multiple games, YouTube videos, and other places that I remember fondly. I can’t think of a better character to make into a GIANT Lego image.

Image Pixelization

As per usual, I wanted to do this manually to make it as clean as possible. See my explanation in the Yuna 2 mosaic where I go into my reasons for not using a program.

I actually built this entire model out of Perler Beads. It didn’t work out, but still looks cool.

I pixelized this image in the summer of 2009.

Perler Bead Yuna

Here she is in Perler beads. Bad picture, light burnt out. Ran out of pink at the end! Haha.

As you can see, I built it in sections and couldn’t really get it to work out during assembly. I don’t konw what happened, but after I lightly ironed each section, they would no longer line up. It does look pretty awesome though!

Importing to MLCad

I worked on importing this into MLCad from 1/19/18 through 2/8/18. It was pretty fun. I also found a setting where it wouldn’t draw the studs on the rendering. This makes it a lot clearer when looking at big pictures like this. I think you’ll agree.

Importing to MLCad 2

As with Yuna 2, I had to build this on in sections to avoid overtaxing MLCad. Here’s a little glimpse of that. Not too exciting, I know, but looks cool!

Yuna takes 14,895 pieces to build and is 36,176 studs. She is 7′ (213 xm) x 7.6′ (233 cm).

Building

This page was updated on 2/8/18. We’ll see how long it takes me to build her.
