NWC 1990
Lego Mosaic
Here is some detail on my Nintendo World Championships 1990 logo Lego mosaic. Hope you enjoy.
Background
In 1990, Nintendo held a world championship to promote the NES. Participants all over would compete in three games and the winner would go onto the next round, etc. The main winners were given the Holy Grail of NES collecting, the NWC Gold cart which would function just like the competition. Runners up would be given a NWC Gray cart which was the same, just not gold. I’m sure the internet could explain it much better than me!
These pictures are logos from the two carts. I wanted to make a mosaic of this logo.
Starting Image
I took a combination of the above images and came up with the starting image shown here. This one took some creative license, but looks pretty good…if I do say so myself.
Importing to MLCad
Here’s the pattern imported into MLCad. Looks pretty good.
I built this pattern in November of 2008 and built the thing in January of 2010 or so. It has 1,833 pieces or 5,377 studs. it is 2′-8.5″ (82.6 cm) wide by 2′-6″ (76.2 cm) tall.
Final Product
I really like this one. It turned out great. It connects me with my collecting passion and looks wonderful hanging on the wall. Below is a YouTube review I made for this.
