Ted Nindo
Lego Mosaic
Here’s some info on my mosaic of Ted Nindo, the mascot of the website NintendoAGE. Long live NA.
Source Image
Back in the day, this little man graced the corner of every page on NintendoAGE.com. He had several different looks based on the time of year (i.e. Christmas, Halloween, etc.). But he is my favorite when he’s decked out like this. I can’t remember who originally made him, but he was an artist.
So, naturally, I wanted to do something with him to immortalize him.
Pixelizing the Image
Here’s the image that I came up with after cleaning it up. It’s obviously false color, but that doesn’t really matter.
I actually made a Perler bead version of this bad boy and sent it to the NA Founder as a thank you for his hard work. I wonder if he still has it??
Importing to MLCad
Here’s the image in MLCad, again, false color. If you count the pixels, he is significatly smaller than the one that traditionally graces NA. I have a lot of stories and nostalga regarding this little man. Maybe I’ll share some at some point, but not here! Haha.
Ted Nindo’s pattern was built in December of 2008 and the actual construction is TBD. I have most of the bricks. The missing ones are on order as of writing this. He consists of 3,448 pieces or 12,730 studs. He is 2′-5.7″ (46 cm) wide by 3′-5.9″ (86.5 cm) tall.
Final Product
I have most of the bricks to complete this model, but am missing a few odds and ends. I am currently waiting on BrickLink orders to arrive to finish it off. This page was built on 1/22/2018. We’ll see how long it takes me to finally build it!
