Star Trek:
The Experience
Lego Mosaic
Here’s some detail on my Lego Mosiac of the Star Trek: The Experience logo from the closed attraction in Las Vegas. It’s built and hanging on my wall! I love Star Trek, and I really enjoyed going here when it was in service. RIP.
Pixelized Image
I’m not sure which images I started with on this one, but I think that it was a hodge podge of several. I had to do a lot of work to get the font for the words to look right this small, so I went through a number of iterations. The size is limited by the “Las Vegas Hilton” at the bottom. It is the smallest I could make it. I built everything else around it. I took that, scaled the “STTE” part and the yellow to the “Las Vegas Hilton” and went from there. I think it turned out really nice.

Importing to MLCad
Importing to MLCad was a formailty. I just needed a count on the pieces…however, I used mostly 2×2 white bricks (as opposed to the 2×4 bricks shown here) for cost purposes. As a result, my piece count is probably off somewhat. But, it is much cheaper to buy 2 – 2x2s than a single 2×4.

Finished Product
I didn’t do a YouTube video on this one because I don’t think that anyone really cares about it. But, I love it. I have a pretty gnarly collection of ST:TE stuff to match and, I guess, I should seek help.
Anyway, I designed this pattern in January of 2009. I finally built it in 2013 or so, before the LoZ mosaic. Assuming the 2×4 bricks described above, it uses 2,965 pieces and 14.336 studs. It is 3′-4″ (101.6 cm) wide and 2′-11″ (88.9 cm) tall.
RIP.
