Superman
Lego Mosaic

Here’s some info on my Superman Lego Mosaic. He’s a badass.

Source Image

Back in the day, I had a friend, Deniz, that used this image as his avatar on various forums. He was/is a good guy and we banter back and forth on occasion.  Yes, Deniz, I carried your drunk ass and dumped you in a tent.  You passed out after 2 beers.

Superman is one of my favorite super heroes, so, when I saw this, I had to build a mosaic out of it. I took the source image he was kind enough to supply and scaled it to where I needed it to be.

Pixelizing the Image

As I rant about quite often, I did this manually. It takes longer, but you’re left with a nice picture. If you tried to use a computer to do this pic, it would look horrible.

Importing to MLCad

This one was fairly easy to build. Just build the black outlines and fill in the spaces!

I built this pattern in February of 2009. I have 99% of the bricks, but the actual build date is TBD. He has 3,967 pieces or 10,614 studs. He is 2′-3.2″ (69.1 cm) wide and 3′-2.2″ (96.8 cm) tall.

Final Product

I have most of the bricks to complete this model, but am missing a few odds and ends. I am currently waiting on BrickLink orders to arrive to finish it off. This page was built on 1/22/2018. We’ll see how long it takes me to finally build it!
